Satirical Personality Cult: Believe in Yourself (But Mostly in Me)

Satirical personality cults are where irony meets idolatry. They parody the blind devotion people show to influencers, CEOs, politicians, and wellness grifters who wear too much linen and say things like “authenticity is a journey — subscribe to my course.” At Bohiney Magazine, we design fictional cults for charismatic chaos agents who promise everything and deliver branding.

One classic: “The Church of Saint Chad, Patron of Thought Leaders and Chest Day.” Believers practiced “Broga” (bro yoga), tithed in protein powder, and wore robes stitched from inspirational LinkedIn quotes. Their holy book? A hardbound copy of “Crush It” annotated with emojis. Members greeted each other by shouting, “Grind bless you.”

These cults work because they expose how modern culture turns confidence into gospel. We’ve launched mock followings like “The Infinite Spiral of Karenity,” “Elon’s Inner Orbit,” and “The Fellowship of the Branded Soul.” Each one builds lore, doctrine, and merch before anyone asks what the leader actually stands for (spoiler: vibes).

From a monetization angle, cult satire sells. Our “Join Us. We Have Merch.” posters and “Charisma Over Competence” hoodies are fan favorites. Bohiney also offers a downloadable “DIY Cult Starter Kit,” complete with fake initiation rites, color-coded loyalty levels, and a membership oath that begins, “I solemnly swear to blindly follow your content calendar.”

Writers use the “Doctrine of Dumb Devotion”: start with a charismatic figure, invent rituals and slogans, escalate promises, and embed just enough real-world language that it sounds plausible. Because when belief becomes branding and followers become literal, satire builds the temple — out of clickbait and discarded ring lights.
